Calmar Library Has New Facebook Page

Calmar Public Library is pleased to announce that it now has it’s own Facebook page.  The page was created by Heather Ward and has already had dozens of “likes”.   This is an exciting addition to the library and will offer patrons and the general public the opportunity to connect with the library in a social media way.

The Downloadable E-Books & Audio Books

NEIBORS has now become BRIDGES, the on-line source for e-books and audio books.  Calmar Public Library offers the convenience of downloading e-books and audiobooks to mobile devices including all types of Kindles, Nooks, iPods, iPads, iPhones, MP3 players, mobile phones and much more.
Library patrons can download the books from any computer that is connected to the Internet, at any time of the day or night, offering the convenience of “checking out” e-books and audio books from home, the library, or elsewhere. By visiting the BRIDGES website, patrons can browse or search for an e-book or audio book of their choice.  To log in, a patron must enter their library patron number along with their phone number as it is listed in the patron database, then follow the step-by-step process to download the title to their computer, or transfer it to any number of mobile devices for their reading or listening pleasure. This service permits people to check out and return e-books and audio books without having to come to the library. The e-book automatically “returns” to the collection after two weeks and audio books can be checked out for one week time periods.  Many new selections are being added to the collection from BRIDGES every month.
Calmar Public Library is just one of many libraries throughout the state of Iowa to offer this service to their patrons. The BRIDGES website is very user-friendly, providing answers to frequently asked questions, and even offers tech support for their downloadable collection, but not for the actual mobile device itself.
For more information about the BRIDGES program, or if you need a library patron number to log in to the website with your mobile device, contact library staff for assistance.
