The mission of the Calmar Public Library is to provide quality materials and services, which fulfill educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is welcoming, respectful, and businesslike. In fulfilling this mission statement, Calmar Public Library will purchase, organize, and make readily accessible, books and other printed, recorded, and filmed materials, to stimulate interest and give guidance in their free use to everyone in the community–regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, or social, economic, or educational level.
The Calmar Public Library endorses the Library Bill of Rights and the concept of Intellectual Freedom, providing the freedom to read to everyone, which is essential to our democracy.
Vision Statement
As the Calmar Public Library fulfills its mission statement of providing quality services to meet the lifelong learning, recreational, informational, and technological needs of the patrons of today and those of the future, our vision is that:
- Patrons will receive efficient, effective, and friendly assistance from library staff
- Patrons will discover library resources that anticipate and satisfy their learning and leisure time needs
- Patrons will experience convenient access to all library services in a welcoming environment that will allow them to pursue their reading, listening, and viewing interests
