The library is seeking three individuals as replacements to serve on the Library Board of Trustees, effective immediately.  Three of the current members are resigning, two of whom are leaving the area and another who is unable to serve.  Individuals must reside within the city limits of Calmar, be at least 18 years of age, be able to attend monthly meetings lasting approximately one hour, and be an advocate for the library.  Library trustees are responsible for the administration and governance of the library, including hiring the director, having control of the expenditure of funds allocated to the operation of the library, and serve voluntarily.  Any individual wishing to serve as a library trustee is welcome to apply, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, color, or creed.  No previous library experience is necessary.  City residents who serve on the library are appointed by the Mayor and approved to serve by the city council.  Orientation to new, incoming board members is provided.  Contact the library at (563) 562-3010 if interested or for further information.
